Senior Chief Instructor Bio
John Kanabay has been training in martial arts for over 30 years. Master Kanabay holds black belts in TaeKwonDo, Karate, and HaiDong Gumdo. He offers advanced training in competitive forms and weapons, full contact fighting, MMA, grappling, breaking, and traditional sword.
As coach and instructor he prepares his students for the most prestigious martial arts competitions in the world. As a competitor, he can be seen on ESPN annually, competing in the US Open ISKA World
Martial Arts Championships. In doing so, he earned the title of “Ultimate World Breaking Champion.” Master Kanabay set a world record on stage and TV when he became the first light-weight Ultimate Champion ever in the 25 years of the event.
As an MMA coach, he trains and corners for amateur and professional MMA fighters.
Chief Instructor Bio
Elise Reed has trained in martial arts for over 20 years, starting under Master Kanabay at age 6. She competes at national- and world-level martial arts tournaments and as a professional mixed martial arts fighter.
As a US Army Reservist, Ms. Reed was deployed ’16, and has held positions of battle captain and HHD commander. She graduated from VMI in ‘15, where she was the highest ranking female in the history of the school, serving as RXO.
